"Using Maps in Genealogical Research: A Library of Congress Webcast" — Arlington Genealogical Society (In-Person & Virtual) In-Person / Online

Join the Arlington Genealogical Society on the second Tuesday of each month (except July and August) for a social time starting at 6:00, a short business meeting occurring at 6:30, and especially for the informative presentation that follows! This event is made possible through a vibrant partnership between the Arlington Public Library and the Arlington Genealogical Society (AGS) and is open to members and visitors alike.


December 10, 2024  — "Using Maps in Genealogical Research"

Reference librarians Amelia Raines and Julie Stoner will present an introduction to the Library of Congress Geography and Map collections. This orientation session will focus on resources for genealogists like land ownership atlases and fire insurance maps. Join us to explore a treasure trove of cartographic resources and learn how to access them in person and online. 

After the video presentation, APL Librarian Mark Dellenbaugh will discuss 8-10 maps from the Genealogy & Local History Room map collection.
